WATCH: Time-lapse video shows long line at MU Health testing site

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Long lines at testing sites have become a familiar sight across the nation, including Columbia.

Demand for tests has skyrocketed along with new coronavirus cases. Experts attribute the rapid rise in cases to the omicron variant, which is more transmissible than other strains but appears to cause less severe illness.

Long lines form daily outside MU Health Care's central COVID-19 testing site on Broadway. Gary Bitsicas sent this time-lapse video taken of Thursday's line during testing hours from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
