Missouri state and federal officials react to Supreme Court blocking testing and vaccine mandate
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Hours after the Supreme Court blocked nationwide vaccine and testing mandate for large businesses but it allowed a vaccine mandate for certain health care workers to go into effect nationwide, Missouri state and federal elected officials reacted to the news on social media.
Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (R-MO 4th District)
“Today is a win for American freedom, our Constitution, and the rule of law. President Biden had no authority to mandate vaccines through the illegal OSHA overreach – and the ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court validates this fact.
Now, we must codify this ruling into law through my legislation, the Stop Federal Vaccine Mandates for Employees Act, to make sure these authoritarian mandates never happen again.”
While I applaud today's ruling by the Supreme Court stopping OSHA mandates, the constitutional rights of health care workers continue to be denied. We must protect all Americans, regardless of their career choice, from being forced to choose between a vaccine or their livelihood.

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt
“Earlier this afternoon, the United States Supreme Court halted the OSHA private employer vaccine mandate, a massive win for millions of workers and businesses across the country, including Doolittle Manufacturing here in Missouri, who would’ve had to shutter their doors if this mandate was not halted. Missouri was the first state to file suit against the OSHA private employer mandate, and I’m proud to have delivered this critical decision for Missourians and Americans, and to hand the Biden Administration its biggest loss to date. While we’re disappointed in the Supreme Court’s ruling on our lawsuit against the health care worker vaccine mandate, that fight is far from over, and the case is still ongoing. We’re committed to ensuring that rural hospitals and nursing homes continue to stay open and provide critical care to Missourians, and we will not give up this fight.”
Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO 3rd District)
“I applaud the Supreme Court for upholding the Constitution and blocking the Biden Administration’s overreaching vaccine mandate on American businesses,” said Congressman Luetkemeyer. “This decision is a welcome step in the right direction for economic freedom and small businesses across the country.”
Congressman Jason Smith (R-MO 8th District)
Today’s injunction against the Biden administration’s authoritarian vaccine mandate is a win for freedom and liberty, but it’s just the first step. No American should be forced by their government to choose between their livelihood and their health care freedom. I will keep fighting to support the values of working-class Americans.
Missouri Chamber of Commerce
The US Supreme Court has blocked the Biden Administration from mandating COVID-19 vaccination at businesses with 100 or more employees, while allowing a similar rule for health care facilities to stand.
The Missouri Chamber had strongly pushed back against the Biden administration’s plan, arguing that employers should continue to have the right to establish vaccine policies for their own businesses.
This is a win for supporters of free enterprise. But meanwhile, some lawmakers in Missouri continue to push anti-business bills that would override employer policies regarding COVID-19 vaccines.
Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO)

Last month I called on the Supreme Court to block Joe Biden’s unconstitutional vaccine mandate.

This week, the Constitution prevailed for workers in Missouri and our nation’s highest court struck down Biden’s vaccine mandate.
