Police investigate after burglary suspects caught on camera

Police in Jefferson City and Holts Summit are investigating after a recent string of car break-ins.

Multiple residents in the neighborhood of Rainbow Hills Road caught the possible culprits on camera Wednesday.

ABC 17 News acquired several of the videos that residents said they also sent to police.

“It’s important to remember to remove any valuables from the vehicle at night, including firearms, keys and garage door openers,” said Lt. Curtis Hall of the Callaway County Sheriff’s Department. “Also, moving a vehicle away from the street and in front of a motion-activated light is a great way to discourage burglars.”

Hall said stolen firearms are often recovered at the scenes of more serious crimes and that it’s not uncommon from them to be taken from vehicles that were not locked.
