Iberia school district closed Monday due to power outages
UPDATE 4:48 p.m.: ABC 17 has confirmed that power has been restored at the Iberia R-V schools.
ORIGINAL STORY: Iberia R-V schools are not in session Monday due to a power outage.
ABC 17 News talked to a spokeswoman for the district Monday morning, who says the school had planned on using the MLK Day holiday as a make up day.
However, she says right now the district’s elementary school and parts of its junior high don’t have electricity.
The spokeswoman says crews from Gascosage Electric Cooperative are on the way to the schools now to restore the outage.
It’s unclear if weather or other factors are to blame for the outage.
