Hitchhiker struck by vehicle in Miller County

A mid-Missouri woman is recovering Friday night after a hit-and-run crash in Miller County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 64-year-old Juanita J. Raffel, of Barnett, Missouri, was standing on the side of Highway 54, a quarter of a mile east of Tolwood Road, while trying to hitchhike when she was hit on Thursday around 6:50 p.m.

The vehicle that hit Raffel kept on going. No arrests have been made.

Troopers said Raffel was transported by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri with moderate injuries.
