Tuesday Morning December 20

TODAY: It will be a cold morning once again, while feeling like a big improvement over the past two mornings. Temperatures will be in the mid teens for the morning commute with a wind chill of 4-10. There will be plenty of sun to start off the day, with scattered clouds increasing to those north of I-70. High temperatures will be 10-15 degrees better in the afternoon reaching the upper 30s to near 40 at the Lake of the Ozarks. Those north of I-70 will likely stay in the mid to low 30s as clouds work in late day.

TONIGHT: Winds will remain from the south under 5 mph bringing a mostly clear sky to those south of the Missouri River, and mid and high level clouds to those north. Temperatures will improve slightly overnight reaching near average in the low 20s.

EXTENDED: We’ll continue to see a warming pattern carry us through this week, with highs topping out in the low to mid 40s through Friday. Practically all of this week will remain dry, but watching our next system take shape as we head into the Christmas weekend. There looks to be a chance for rain starting Friday night and increasing by Sunday. Depending on how far north the moisture tracks on Friday night will be tricky. Those north of I-70 will see temperatures near 32-35. If rain occurs, some freezing will be possible again. Due to mild temperatures aloft though, over the weekend it looks to be primarily liquid where 1″ to 1.5″ looks good. Temperatures should be in the 40s during the day, and night time temperatures in the mid 30s. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
