Eight students relocated after Lincoln University dorm floods

Eight students are now out of a their residence hall at Lincoln University after their dormitory flooded Sunday night.

Lincoln University spokeswoman Misty Young says it happened around 10:00 Sunday night in Dawson Hall.

That’s the same residence hall where students reported finding mold in their rooms in September.

Young says maintenance crews shut off water service to the building, which also affects heating of the facility.

As a result of the flooding and lack of heating, Young says officials decided to relocate the resident advisors and eight students in the hall for the break.

Young says they relocated them to open spaces in the other residential halls.

Young says they have not yet determined an exact cause for the flooding. They also do not yet know how much damage the flooding caused.

Young says residential students who have left for the break and/or new students will return to campus starting January 12. The spring 2017 semester starts January 17. It’s unclear if the residence hall will be repaired by then.
