A 91-year-old man dies after being struck by car

A 91-year-old man was fatally struck by a car Saturday morning, Jefferson City police said.

Authorities said 911 dispatchers received a call at 6:45 a.m. that a pedestrian had been hit by a car on the 1400 block of Missouri Boulevard.

ABC 17 News was told that the Jefferson City police and fire department, as well as Cole County Emergency Medical Services, responded to the accident.

Police said they found the man lying in the roadway unconscious with obvious injuries to his legs.

The man was taken to the hospital for his injuries. He later died at the hospital.

The driver, Dakota Henness, told police he was driving westbound on Missouri Boulevard. when the accident happened.

Jefferson City police said they are still investigating the accident.
