MoDOT treating roads before second round of ice

UPDATE 6:29 a.m.: Route F in northern Boone County is in bad condition. According to MoDOT, a plow truck is stuck in a ditch. They’re working hard to clear the lettered routes. As of now, use extreme caution if you’re out on the roads.

Original Story: Friday’s icy roads caused over 300 crashes in the city of Columbia and Boone County. Traffic was backed up on I-70 near the Highway 63 connector.

The Missouri Department of Transportation was salting the roads from about 11 a.m. Friday until early Saturday morning.

MoDOT said they are more ready for road maintenance on Saturday than they were Friday. They said since snow is expected in Missouri, they have their trucks and crews prepared for plowing.

MoDOT said they will continue to monitor the roads throughout the day Saturday. They said they will continue to salt the roads when necessary.
