Weekend ice, snow & dangerous wind chills
Temperatures will drop quickly Saturday morning as arctic air moves in and will be below freezing by mid-morning in all of Mid-Missouri. Drizzle will also be falling at times, freezing on roads which could lead to a glaze of ice in areas Saturday morning.
Snow moves in from early afternoon through mid-evening but will be light. Heavier snow bands in western Missouri could cause local amounts up to 3 inches but most areas will see a half inch to an inch of snow with lowest amounts southeast.
Temperatures will fall through the day Saturday with northwesterly winds of 15-20 mph, gusting to 25 at times, bringing wind chill readings down into the single digits by evening and below zero overnight. Dangerous wind chills of -10 to -20 are expected by early morning Sunday.
Although we’ll have sunny skies Sunday, it remains very cold with high temperatures only from 8 to 13 degrees, dropping to near zero by Monday morning.
