Public Works crews to work overnight to treat neighborhoods

Columbia Public Works crews plan to work overnight to treat neighborhood streets with salt after Friday’s slick roads.

The Columbia Public Works Street Division says it will work from the inner streets of the City to the outer streets overnight Friday. Public Works has about 25 pieces of equipment spreading salt.

During the next winter event, crews will begin from the outer part of the City and work inward.

We’re told crews working as quickly as possible to treat streets with salt to help reduce slickness.

Motorists, non-motorized transportation users and pedestrians are urged to use caution on streets, trails and sidewalks.

Sudden slickness or black ice may appear as this is an active winter event. Weather and street conditions are being continually monitored.
