Tracking rain and even a return to more December-like temperatures by the end of next week

TONIGHT: An area of low pressure to our west has south winds surging temperatures well into record territory area wide today. Tonight, that low passes by to our north, bringing many along and north of I-70 a chance at a few showers late tonight. These may linger into the midnight hour, but skies will dry before sunrise. Temperatures will stay warm overnight ahead of this system's cold front.

CHRISTMAS DAY: The cold front will pass early on Saturday, cooling temperatures initially into the low 50's and perhaps upper 40's. Temperatures will rebound a little into the afternoon with slightly more sunshine, but it won't be a sensible rebound, as temperatures will largely hold in the 50's.

EXTENDED: Clouds will start to increase on Sunday, with highs pushing back into the upper 50’s as south winds return ahead of yet another surface low. A few showers will be possible later in the day Sunday. That chance of rain will push out of the area by Monday morning, leaving us dry and warm during the day. Perhaps the best rain chances return into Tuesday with highs staying in the 50’s. They’re out of here by Wednesday, but the cooler weather will take its place. Highs Wednesday and Thursday may actually feel like December, as they drop back into the 40’s.
