Lake Ozark man with mental health episode threatens police with self harm

The Lake Ozark Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from a subject at 69 North Shore requesting help on Dec. 2. The call then disconnected. An officer from Lake Ozark and a MSHP trooper arrived on scene and made verbal contact with a male subject who had locked himself in his bedroom who claimed to have a knife and threatening to harm himself.

The male subject then claimed to have a bomb in the bedroom. Officers then called for assistance and set up a perimeter and evacuated the surrounding apartments. Hwy W was closed down to traffic and rerouted for the safety of the public.

A negotiator from the MSHP was called in. After 1 ½ hours, the subject finally exited the apartment without incident. The subject was transported by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital and was treated for lacerations to his arms. The subject was suffering from type of mental health issue. No weapons or bomb were ever found.
