Mizzou falls to Army in Armed Forces Bowl

FORT WORTH, Tex. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team came up just short against Army in the Armed Forces Bowl on Wednesday night. The Black Knights kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired to beat the Tigers 24-22.

The Tigers were short-handed on Wednesday as they played without All-American running back Tyler Badie. The SEC's leading rusher opted out of the game on Tuesday.

Quarterback Brady Cook made the most of his first career start. The redshirt freshman was 27-for-34 for 238 yards and a touchdown. He also ran nine times for 53 yards and a score.

Cook led the Tigers on an 11-play, 83 yard drive to take a 22-21 lead with 1:11 to go in the game. MU had a chance to go up by three points, but the Tigers missed on the two-point try.

On the ensuing Army drive, the Black Knights drove down the field and won the game on a Cole Talley 41-yard field goal.

MU has now lost three straight bowl games. The Tigers last postseason victory came back in the Citrus Bowl following the 2014 season. Mizzou finished the season with a record of 6-7.
