Mizzou WBB takes Braggin’ Rights over Illinois

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou women's basketball team is bringing Braggin' Rights back to Columbia after beating Illinois 84-65 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Fighting Illini started the game on a 13-1 run, but MU dominated after that. The Tigers closed out the first quarter on a 9-0 run to tie the game. MU took a 40-26 lead into halftime.

Aijha Blackwell led the way with a team-high 18 points and 15 rebounds. In total - five Tigers were in double-figures. Also, head coach Robin Pingeton earned her 200th career win as a head coach at MU.

MU finished non-conference play with an 11-2 record. Up next - MU will host No. 1 South Carolina on Thursday, Dec. 30 at 6 p.m.
