Signals at Missouri Boulevard intersection to be turned off

In a traffic alert for drivers in Jefferson City, some big, possibly confusing, changes are coming to Missouri Boulevard.

Starting tomorrow, the signals at the intersection of Missouri Boulevard and Dunklin/Bolivar Streets will be turned off for up to 10 days.

As a result, Missouri Boulevard traffic will not be allowed to make left turns at the intersection. Drivers will only be able to travel straight through the intersection and make right turns.

“This is a busy intersection in town, and we apologize for any inconvenience this work might cause,” said Reid Riley, resident engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Central District. “We appreciate drivers’ patience as we work to make Missouri Boulevard more accessible to those with disabilities and more user-friendly for all pedestrians.”

The signal change is so crews can move existing traffic signal poles to their new location. The changes are all part of the pedestrian improvement project, which, upon completion, will bring all sidewalks in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
