Driver dies in collision with train in Monroe County
An 80-year-old Paris, Missouri man died Saturday afternoon when he failed to yield to a train and it slammed into his vehicle, authorities said.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report showed Stanley Thurman was driving southbound on County Road 235 when his car was hit by the train that was traveling eastbound.
Thurman was pronounced dead at the scene just after 2 p.m.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Monroe County Ambulance and Monroe County Fire Department all responded to the crash.
