Almeta Crayton’s ‘Everybody Eats’ celebrates 19th year of free Thanksgiving meals

Almeta Crayton’s community program’s “Everybody Eats” has been offering the community a free Thanksgiving Day meal for 19 years.

Crayton died, but her godson Kentrell Minton took over the tradition. He said it’s what Crayton would have wanted.

Minton said the only issue they had getting the event together was finding a new location to hold the meal. This year “Everybody Eats” took place at the Senior Activity Center in Columbia.

The lunch is offered to the whole community and will be going on until 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
