Troopers arrest convicted murderer in Cooper County for parole violation

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has arrested a convicted murderer in Cooper County who appears to have been living in Boonville.

Arrest reports indicate that 45-year-old Timothy Whistler had a warrant issued for his arrest out of Florida for a parole violation.

It shows troopers arrested Whistler around 9:16pm Wednesday night in Cooper County. He was booked in the Cooper County jail around 10:00pm.

Jail records show Whistler as having an address in Boonville.

The arrest report shows Whistler’s original charges were homicide, armed robbery, and burglary and public records indicate he was convicted of murder.

Whistler served about 20 years in a Florida prison and was released earlier this year. It’s unclear how he violated the terms of his parole.

An news article from the Orlando Sentinel written in 1995 reports a man by the same name was arrested in Las Vegas after he was found driving a murder victim’s car.

It reports that Whistler was suspected of killing spiritual medium James Buchanan in Cassadaga, FL. It says Buchanan was found bludgeoned in his home in November of 1995 by worried neighbors who hadn’t seen him. An autopsy apparently showed the 65-year-old had been hit over the head with a heavy object.

ABC 17 News found records showing Whistler was arrested on Oct. 29 for DWI in Boonville. He bonded out on Nov. 17 and a subpoena was issued the next day. He has a hearing for his DWI charge on Nov. 29.
