Golf cart fire damages two other passenger vehicles on Richmond Ave

The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to the parking lot across from 809 Richmond Ave. for a golf cart on fire Thursday night.

Two passenger vehicles also had exterior fire damage. The fire was extinguished in approximately five minutes and no injuries were reported.

Assistant Fire Marshall Kyle Edwards conducted the fire investigation. He said that the fire started in the golf cart and spread to the two passenger vehicles.

Because of the extensive damage to the golf cart, an exact cause is still unknown. The damages are estimated to be $15,000.
