One person shot on Spencer Ave.
UPDATE 11/18: Columbia police tell us the shooting victim is now released from the hospital.
They say they have no information on a suspect right now and say they aren’t releasing the victim’s name.
ORIGINAL: Columbia Police were investigating a shooting on Spencer Avenue Thursday night.
The call went out before 8:30 p.m. for a report of shots fired in the 700 block. Once on scene, police found a person who had been shot in the leg. That person was then transported to a local hospital.
Police said they found shells casings and are continuing to search the area.
They also said there was a “multitude of gunfire” and they were speaking with witnesses to to try figure out what led up to the shooting.
The victim’s condition was unknown Thursday night, but police confirmed the victim lost an excessive amount of blood.
University Hospital security confirmed the hospital was put on lockdown for a Columbia shooting victim. Officials at the hospital would not confirm if this was the Spencer Avenue victim.
