Thursday Morning November 17

TODAY: High clouds will be increasing today as the next storm system approaches and moves in on Friday. A Wind Advisory will be valid from 10AM-6PM for Benton, Saline, and Pettis counties where sustained winds of 30 mph and gusts near 45 mph is possible. Temperatures will warm to the upper 70s to near 80, where a record high will likely be broken today. While it will be windy for all of Mid-Missouri, the strongest winds will be west of US 63. These winds can make driving difficult for high impact vehicles and light weight vehicles.

TONIGHT: It will remain breezy into the overnight hours where winds could gusts near 30 mph overnight. This southerly wind and increase in clouds will keep temperatures 20-30 degrees above normal in the upper 50s to low 60s overnight.

EXTENDED: Friday will bring a chance of light rain in the morning through early afternoon with low rain amounts of a trace to a few hundredths west of HWY 63 to a tenth farther east. It looks like the Lake of the Ozarks could see light rain by 7AM and Columbia from 9AM-11AM. Temperatures will fall through the day, starting in the upper 50s in the morning, dropping to the upper 40s by evening with gusty westerly winds to 30 mph. By early Saturday morning, lows will drop to near 30 with wind chills near 20 at daybreak. Saturday will be mostly sunny, breezy and cold with high temperatures only reaching the mid 40s with wind chills in the 30s. A hard freeze looks likely Sunday morning as temperatures drop into the mid 20s. Sunday will still be cool with highs in the upper 40s to near 50 with lighter winds. Next week we’ll warm slightly with a chance of rain Tuesday and Wednesday. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
