Community group seeks donations for families in need

An organization still needs donations to help families in need this Thanksgiving.

Almeta Crayton’s Community Programs is asking for food donations like turkeys, stuffing, and green beans to help fill baskets for families.

As of Tuesday night, they have more than 300 applicants for the baskets they are planning to deliver by November 19.

“Without those donations we can’t fulfill the need of our fellow brothers and sisters here in Columbia, Missouri,” said Kentrell Minton, a member of the organization.

“Every little thing helps. I don’t care if it’s one canned good. I don’t care if it’s one box of macaroni and cheese. Everything helps. Those items will be used and they’re needed, most definitely.”

If you’re interested in donating, turkeys can be dropped off at Mosers on the business loop.

Canned and boxed foods can be dropped off at the Almeta Crayton office: 310 Tiger Lane, Suite 101B.

Monetary donations can also be dropped off there.
