Callaway county traffic stop nets huge drug haul

A traffic stop Sunday in Callaway county netted a large amount of marijuana and cash.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a trooper conducted a traffic stop at the eastbound, 153 mile marker on I-70, and discovered 36 pounds of drugs and almost $39,000 in cash.

The trooper asked the suspect a variety of questions during the traffic stop. The suspect’s answers were suspicious, so the trooper contacted Enterprise, the company that the suspect claimed his sister, “Linda,” rented the car from. The car was rented on Nov. 11, 2016 in Las Vegas by “Rain Farr.” the suspect was not an approved driver of the rental car.

The suspect, 36-year-old Kornelius Easton of Anderson, IN was arrested for felony possession with the intent to distribute. Easton was released after posting a $25,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in a Callaway County courtroom Dec. 16 at 9:00 a.m.
