Boone County investigation nets one arrest and recovered property
The Boone County Sheriff’s Department is conducting an ongoing investigation into methamphetamine distribution in the county. To date, that investigation has netted two successful search warrants.
On November 3, deputies served a warrant at 804 Demaret Drive. During the search, officers seized about two ounces of methamphetamine, and two firearms. 42 year-old Shawn Turner was arrested for drugs and weapons charges, in addition to, failing to register as a sex offender. Turner is currently in federal custody, and is awaiting indictments for those charges.
On Friday, November 11, officers searched a residence at 1514 W. Worley Street. During that search, officers seized about 6 grams of methamphetamine, evidence of distribution, along with stolen power tools. A suspect from this search is currently being sought. Enhanced charges are expected from this search, as the residence is about 310 feet from West Middle School.
