Light rain and colder nights
Showers will continue Tuesday morning ahead of a cold front which will move southeast through the day. Rain will end north of I-70 by mid-morning and by early afternoon in most areas south of I-70, lingering near I-44 until mid-afternoon. Total rainfall amounts of a tenth to a quarter inch are expected in most areas but local amounts of a half inch are possible near Truman Reservoir and our southwestern counties.
Winds will shift to the north, clearing our skies through the day from north to south as the drier air moves in. We won’t notice the cooler air until Tuesday night as clear skies allow temperatures to fall into the upper 30s to near 40 by Wednesday morning.
High pressure builds over the area Wednesday, keeping us sunny and cool. Clear skies and light winds will allow temperatures to drop into the mid to upper 30s Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Patchy frost is possible in valleys by Thursday morning.
A second surge of cool, dry air moves in Friday morning behind another cold front, dropping temperatures Friday night into the low to mid 30s. Some areas north of I-70 and east of HWY 63 could touch near the freezing mark by Saturday morning. Frost looks more likely Friday night through early Saturday morning.
