Veterans Day vigil underway at the Boone County Courthouse

A 24-hour vigil to honor the Veterans Day weekend is underway at the Boone County Courthouse in Columbia on Friday night.

The vigil started Friday at 11:11 a.m. It’s scheduled to end at exactly 11:11 a.m. on Saturday.

The MU ROTC Veterans Day parade will take place on Saturday at 10:30 a.m before the end of the vigil.

The parade route starts at the University of Missouri Columns, follows 8th Street, and ends at the Boone County Courthouse.

A ceremony will immediately follow the conclusion of the vigil .

Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-Harrisonville) and Col. John Clark, an MU almnus and Vietnam POW, will speak at the ceremony.

Members of the University of Missouri Air Force ROTC and several Columbia veteran groups are hosting the events to honor all veterans and servicemen and women.
