WEATHER ALERT DAY: Scattered strong storms possible through late evening
LATE FRIDAY UPDATE: SEVERE CLEAR!
A Tornado Watch is in effect until 11PM for most of Mid-Missouri excluding counties along Highway 65.
A powerful storm system is taking shape today bringing a whole host of possible impacts to Mid-Missouri. This strengthening area of low-pressure will eventually swing a cold front through the region later tonight.
STORMS
This might be the biggest update in the last 12 hours with this system. Our frontal boundary appears to be coming in a few hours later than expected. We'll have a narrow window for severe storms between about 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. before the threat exits east of Mid-Missouri.
The biggest threats with these storms if they do develop would be damaging straight-line winds and a tornado or two. Areas along and east of HWY 63 should stay weather alert through about 10:00 p.m.
WINDS
Winds, with or without thunderstorms, will be on the gusty side as this system moves through. Wind gusts pick up between 30-35 mph overnight into Saturday morning as the front passes through, giving us a blustery start to the weekend.
TEMPERATURES
Ahead of the front we have managed to reach the lower 60s, but we'll come crashing back down tonight between 9:00 PM and midnight as the front moves east. Many of us will go from the 60's into the 30's in a matter of 2 hours.
