Officers surrounding apartment complex on Demaret Drive, false alarm

UPDATE 9:46 a.m.: Authorities responded to reports of a shooting on Demaret Drive. The man they suspected for the shooting did not hear their commands, which led to him being put in handcuffs. Once authorities determined that the shooting was a false alarm, they took the man out of handcuffs and cleared the scene.

ORIGINAL STORY: ABC 17 News is on scene at an apartment complex on Demaret Drive in Boone County. Columbia police and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are surrounding the complex. At least one officer had a riot shield.

Authorities evacuated the building and entered with guns drawn. A man was taken out of the building in handcuffs, but they were later taken off of the man. The scene is now being cleared.
