Motorcycle season ends with numerous crashes and fatalities

With November quickly approaching, motorcycle season begins to wind down in Mid-Missouri.

Over the weekend, two motorcycle crashes were reported in Mid-Missouri that resulted in serious injuries.

On Tuesday, ABC17 contacted University Hospital to check on both of patients.

The hospital told our crews the man involved in a Sunday crash was still in critical condition. ABC17 previously reported Donald Tanner was flown to University Hospital after he hit a deer driving his motorcycle in Camden County.

On Saturday, Cody Schacht was also flown to University Hospital for serious injuries after he was unable to stop his bike and rear-ended another vehicle. ABC17 checked on his condition and the hospital did not have him listed as a patient anymore.

These crashes are just two of dozens we’ve covered over the past few months.

Earlier in October, a driver died from his motorcycle related injuries after a crash on Strawn Road.

And in September, our crews reported three fatal motorcycle crashes in Mid-Missouri over Labor Day weekend.

In March, another biker also died on Providence Road south of Nifong after a vehicle turned left in front of him.

MODOT warns motorcycle drivers to always a wear a helmet and to wear the necessary riding gear.

MODOT also asks all other drivers to share the road space and to always watch for motorcycles.
