Rain and Storms return Wednesday

An approaching upper level low positioned off shore the pacific northwest on Monday morning, will be responsible for showers and storms midweek in Mid-Missouri. Storms look to arrive late Tuesday night north of HWY 24 after 9PM and increase near I-70 by 6AM Wednesday morning, including Columbia and Jefferson City. There is a limited severe threat with these storms, especially during the day. There looks to be weak elevated instability during the day on Wednesday with marginal wind shear. These could fuel afternoon storms again that could be on the strong side. Rainfall amounts look to range from 0.25″ to 0.50″ for a good portion of the viewing area with Columbia and Jefferson City closer to 0.25.” Rain looks to end through 3PM-5PM in Columbia, and through 7PM-8PM closer to I-44 as the front tracks southeast.
