President Biden to speak on $1 trillion infrastructure bill Wednesday in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
President Joe Biden will travel to Kansas City Wednesday to deliver remarks on a new infrastructure bill and how it will impact the state of Missouri.
The President will land at Kansas City International Airport around 1 p.m. tomorrow before heading to the Kansas City Transportation Authority to give remarks at 2:30 p.m.
This is Biden's first trip to Kansas City since becoming president.
In a statement from the White House, the president will "discuss how the bipartisan infrastructure law delivers for the American people by rebuilding roads and bridges, upgrading public transit, replacing water infrastructure, and creating good-paying, union jobs."
White House Deputy Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, said Tuesday that the president is looking forward to going to Kansas City.
Biden signed the $1 trillion infrastructure bill on Nov. 15.
Jean-Pierre says the president will use this opportunity to continue highlighting how his bipartisan infrastructure law delivers to Missourians.
"By rebuilding the roads and bridges and upgrading public transit, replacing water infrastructure, creating good-paying Union jobs," Jean-Pierre said.
Jean-Pierre says the law is going to provide more than $670 million dollars for public transportation making the commute for Missourians a lot easier.
According to the White House, Missouri received a "C-" grade when it comes to infrastructure, Jean-Pierre says this money will go a long way for improvements in the state.
"With Missouri receiving $7 billion for highways and bridges and a nearly 30% increase in federal funding that is so important and so critical," Jean-Pierre said.
There are also many other uses for the infrastructure money
"Missouri is going to receive about $860 million to improve their water infrastructure," Jean-Pierre said.
