Tuesday Afternoon, October 18

TODAY: Winds have subsided greatly today, as the approaching cold front tracks through the area. Highs today will still be on the warm side, with most locations topping out in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. The only exception will be south of Hwy 50, where the cold front is expected to stall briefly and leave overcast skies through the days. A northwesterly breeze under 10 mph is possible through the day.

TONIGHT: It looks to stay mainly clear north of the Missouri River overnight with temperatures falling to the mid 50s and a northerly wind under 9 mph. Areas closer to I-44 will see a partly cloudy sky with temperatures in the upper 50s.

EXTENDED: It will feel more like fall again on Wednesday with rain chances returning mainly after 8AM south of I-70. There is a Marginal Risk for severe weather on Wednesday for large hail and strong wind gusts of 60 mph. Rainfall amounts looks meager along I-70 near .01″ to. 10″. Areas closer to I-44 could see upwards of 0.50″ to 0.75″ with locally higher amounts in eastern Missouri where 1″ is possible closer to the St. Louis area. Rain will move out by 7PM-9PM over I-44, perhaps with a few lingering showers overnight into Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon will be cool with highs in the mid 60s under mostly sunny skies.
