Two hospitalized after suspected DWI crash in Jefferson City
Two people are recovering after a suspected DWI crash in Jefferson city Monday.
It happened around 12:30 Monday morning in the 1100 block of US 50 East in the westbound lanes.
Police say a preliminary investigation indicated 35-year-old Jon Tolen was driving when the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck the center concrete median.
They say the vehicle then ran off the right side of the road and onto the westbound ramp from Clark Ave. and struck a guardrail.
Police say Jon Tolen was taken to Capital Region Medical Center for minor injuries and say EMS took the front seat passenger, 34-year-old Denise Tolen to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of serious injuries.
Jefferson City police say both Jon and Denise Tolen were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
They say alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the wreck.
Police say one lane of Highway 50/63 Westbound was closed for about an hour while officers investigated the crash.
