Officials say man died in suburban St. Louis house fire

MEHLVILLE, Mo. (AP) — Police in suburban St. Louis say a man has died in a house fire. St. Louis County officials said in a news release that the fire was reported around 1:35 a.m. Sunday at a home in Mehlville. Arriving firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the home and found a man, later identified as 61-year-old Kenneth Miramonti, in the home’s basement. St. Louis County officials say investigators believe the fire was accidental, but have not said how they believe the fire started.
