Boone County jail employees save inmate’s life

Detention officers acted quickly to help a jail inmate during a near-death experience last week at the Boone County Jail.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, a detainee was complaining of illness and collapsed. He stopped breathing and had no pulse.

Officers performed CPR, then used a defibrillator to stimulate the heart.

He was then taken to the hospital, treated and stabilized.

He returned to the jail Monday and continues to be monitored by medical staff.
