Ohio University President may be next UM System President

An Ohio University emeritus professor has confirmed to KMIZ that he and at least one other faculty member had been contacted regarding the school’s current President, Dr. Roderick McDavis.

According to Dr. Richard Vedder, he and the other faculty member had been contacted by someone closely related with the University of Missouri’s presidential search committee. Vedder was asked about McDavis’s qualifications and how he was perceived by both faculty and students. Vedder also stated that McDavis had previously announced his intent to leave his current position by June, 2017.

McDavis has been President at OU since 2004.

We reach out to University of Missouri spokesman John Fougere and he said, “The search committee for the next UM System president has had the privilege of considering a number of qualified persons from a national pool, and throughout our considerations we have pledged to maintain candidate confidentiality. Therefore we again will not comment on any possible candidates as we continue our search efforts.”
