New execution date set in Maries County triple killing

The Missouri Supreme Court set a new lethal injection date on Wednesday for Mark Christeson, who was convicted of raping a woman before killing her and her two children near Vichy in February 1998. His execution is now scheduled for January 31, 2017, at 6:00 p.m.

Christeson was found guilty of slitting Susan Brouk’s throat. Investigators say he also cut her son, Kyle’s, throat and held him under water until he drowned, before suffocating her other child, Adrian. All of their bodies were found near a pond by their home about an hour south of Jefferson City.

Christeson was supposed to be executed in October 2014, but it was delayed after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled he has the right to a federal appeal.
