12PM Update on Matthew

As of 11:30AM CDT, approximately 614,000 people were without power in Florida. Brevard and Volusia counties are reporting the highest outages of 186, 970 without power in Brevard, and 157, 470 without power in Volusia. The eye of Matthew is less than 100 miles ESE at Jacksonville, and the eye wall with sustained winds of 100-120 mph is less than 70 miles. Movement is to the N/NW at 12 mph. Weakening is expected in the forecast in the next 48 hours before it moves away from the states on Sunday.

Reports in Marineland in Flagler County have had a storm surge close to 4 feet. There have also been reports of the boardwalk being washed away in Villages of Mantanzas Shores area. Highest wind report has been recorded in Cape Canaveral of 108 mph. Edgewater has had reports of 69 mph, and Daytona near 67 mph.

The strongest bands of Matthew will reach Jacksonville this afternoon. Storm surge over 7 feet is likely up through Charleston by Saturday. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
