Stolen truck found at the bottom of Hartsburg boat ramp

Deputies located a stolen truck at the bottom of the Hartsburg boat ramp access Tuesday.

The Dodge pick-up truck was discovered this morning by a barge passing by. There was no one in the car, and it was partially submerged under water.

“It looked like it’d been put in neutral and pushed down the ramp,” Deputy Micah Boyd with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department tells ABC 17 News.

The owner of the car says his truck was unlocked, and his keys were on the visor when it was stolen. He told ABC 17 News he leaves his car like that all the time, and nothing has ever happened before.

The car was stolen from the 18000 block of River Road and it was found just over a mile away. The owner of the car called his friend to help, and the two were able to use a different car to pull the truck out of the water.

Right now, an investigation is underway, although deputies say there are no suspects at this time.

While the owner of the truck says none of his items inside were stolen, Boone County deputies say when valuables are stolen out of a car, 99 times out of 100, the car is unlocked.
