JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — A new state audit says a former Missouri county commissioner plotted ways to avoid open meeting rules and tried to get a county employee to do political work. Missouri Auditor Nicole Galloway on Tuesday released an audit of the Greene County Commission, which serves the Springfield, Missouri area. The audit found former Presiding Commissioner Bob Cirtin advised against meeting with other commissioners in a group to avoid open meeting rules. It also found that Cirtin used his county email to ask county employees to volunteer for a 2017 political campaign and told the former county spokeswoman to do campaign work.
