Congresswoman visits Columbia Regional Airport
Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) will be in Columbia today, visiting Columbia Regional Airport.
Congresswoman Hartzler is scheduled to tour the airport and meet with officials to talk about their plans for a new terminal.
On August 2 , voters approved an increased hotel tax to help fund renovations and improvements at the airport. But city spokesman Steven Sapp said it could be a few years before progress is made. The city still needs to present a new layout plan to the Federal Aviation Administration. If the FAA approves the plan, it will fund around half of the $38 million improvement project. That approval could take months to complete.
Congresswoman Hartzler will be available to media after her tour of the airport. We’ll be there asking her questions about the renovations, and we’ll bring you Hartzler’s thoughts here and on air on ABC 17 News tonight.
