Update: Endangered person advisory cancelled after missing teen found safe

UPDATE 8/30:The New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department has cancelled an EndangeredPerson Advisory for a missing Sikeston teen.

Authorities sent an update just after 1:00 Tuesday morning saying 14-year-old Christian Burtonwas found safe in Clinton, MO.

ORIGINAL: The New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department issued an Endangered Person Advisory for 14-year-old Christian Blair Burton after an incident occurred Monday at 7:00 a.m. on County Road 824 in Sikeston.

Burton is a white female, five feet, 90 pounds and has brown hair with blue and green highlighted tips, and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing pajamas, but the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department believes she may now be wearing a black Pokemon shirt, blue jeans, and black Converse tennis shoes.

Burton was left home alone while her father went to work around 6:50 a.m. Burton’s mother came home from work and found Burton and Burton’s cellphone missing. A ping on the phone placed the location nearly 17 miles southeast of Lowry City just after 6 p.m.

Burton’s mother said she is home-schooled and had an online relationship in 2015 with an unknown 40-year-old man.
