Wanted fugitive arrested in Callaway County

A wanted fugitive from Adair County was arrested in Callaway County Monday morning.

According to the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was patrolling Old Highway 40 near Williamsburg when the deputy noticed a vehicle associated with John Atterberry.

The deputy made a traffic stop and Atterberry fled the vehicle. A short foot pursuit followed with the deputy capturing Atterberry.

Atterberry was booked at the Callaway County Jail on charges of resisting arrest and an Adair County FTA warrant for narcotics and traffic violations.

Atterberry also faces a second count of resisting arrest for a foot pursuit that occurred on July 22 at the Pine Ridge Campground on State Road Y, near Guthrie. Deputies were unable to capture Atterberry on that date.
