Columbia police, fire department hold registration to help find stolen bicycles
About 15 people stopped by Derby Ridge Elementary School Saturday afternoon to have their bike registered in case it was ever lost or stolen.
Officer Scott Lenger with CPD’s Community Outreach Unit said the bike registration makes it easier for police to track down lost or stolen bikes and get them bike to the rightful owner.
“We noticed an increase in bicycle thefts so we thought this would be a good way to get bicycles registered if they were stolen or end up missing somewhere,” he said.
The bike registration event was hosted by the Columbia Police Department and the Columbia Fire Department.
Lenger said if you missed Saturday’s event and you would like to have your bike registered, you can stop the Columbia Fire Department.
