Camden County man charged with forgery after allegedly emailing court to get court dates excused

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Camden County prosecutor has charged a Roach man with forgery after he allegedly used an email account to get excused from court three times.

Eric Sutton, 55, is charged with three counts of forgery from three separate incidents on June 28, June 30 and July 29, where a doctor sought to excuse Sutton from court dates for “broken nose and lacerations,” “head and face broken,” and the fact Sutton was allegedly “scheduled for surgery.”

According to court documents, an investigator contacted the St. Louis doctor the emails allegedly came from and confirmed the doctor did not send the emails. The doctor said the letter that was sent was fraudulent for different reasons, including the hospital did not use the letter format sent to the court.

Camden County Prosecuting Attorney Caleb Cunningham requested a no bond warrant on Sutton as Sutton has generated forged documents and presented them to the court system to avoid dates, according to a release.
