Columbia man sentenced in deadly heroin overdose case
A federal judge has sentenced Jon Patrick Washington from Columbia to five years in prison for his role in a deadly heroin overdose in 2014.
This past January, Washington pleaded guilty to renting a room at the Providence Inn and Suites Motel on Providence Road in Columbia for the purpose of using heroin. On April 3, 2014, Morgan Myers, 16, overdosed on the drug and died. Washington later admitted injecting the drug into the Myers, even as she was still under the effects of a previous heroin injection.
At the time, one of Myers’ friends told ABC 17 News that despite making some bad choices, Myers had been trying to make improvements in her life with the help of Boys and Girls Town.
