Police identify suspect arrested in Pendleton Street standoff in Columbia
UPDATE 7/14:The suspect involved in the Pendleton standoff has been identified.
Police say they 49-year-old William Scott Gier was arrested last night after a domestic disturbance call.
The female victim and Gier were apparently in an intimate relationship.
The female victim said Gier slapped her on the right side of her head and pushed her chin with his hand, thus causing her to fall onto the bed.
The female victim also reported she has an order of protection against Gier.
Gier was arrested on suspicion of violation of order of protection, domestic assault, and resisting or interfering with an arrest.
UPDATE: The suspect involved came to the door and was taken into custody without incident. The street is now back open.
ORIGINAL, 10:45 p.m.: At least twelve police vehicles are on the scene at Pendleton St. after a domestic disturbance call.
There is a K-9 unit and officers with megaphones trying to negotiate with a man to come out of one of the homes.
Part of the road has been blocked off.
It is unclear if a weapon is involved or not.
ABC 17 News crews are on the scene working to gather more information.
