Tracking showers and storms overnight, cooler end to the week

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with showers and storms moving in late. Lows in the mid-40s.

TOMORROW: Showers exit early with gusty winds settling in. Becoming mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid-40s.

EXTENDED: A line of storms is expected to move into our western counties between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. and progress east overnight. We're not expecting a severe threat as our window for a better environment will have passed with sunset. That said, rain amounts will end up between 0.25" to 0.5" for much of Mid-MO, with slightly higher amounts along Highway 65. Rain looks to clear our eastern counties between 5:00 to 7:00 a.m., leaving most of the area dry for the morning commute. Skies clear during the day with sunshine trying to warm us back into the mid-50s, but it's breezy with gusts up to 30 mph. Temperatures drop back into the upper 30s Friday morning, but with that strong northwest wind it will feel like the upper 20s through the morning and most of the day as high temperatures only make the low to mid-40s. A weak front moving in from the north on Friday could bring some afternoon clouds, but it's looking dry for now. The weekend starts off cold in the upper 20s on Saturday morning along with a wind chill right around 20 degrees. lt will be a cold start for those deer hunters! We stay in the low 40s during the day so it's also chilly at the Mizzou football game. A clipper system moves in from the north on Sunday morning, bringing us a chance of showers early in the day through afternoon. Temperatures will be near freezing in the morning, so we'll have to watch the timing for a few flurries across northern MO. Once that clears, we'll warm back up to near 50 Monday afternoon with a southwest breeze setting up for the middle of the week, sending our highs back into the 60s by Tuesday and Wednesday.
