Gov. Nixon to attend memorial in Dallas for slain police officers

Governor Jay Nixon will attend a memorial service Tuesday for the five police officers shot to death in Dallas, Texas last week.

The interfaith memorial will take place at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center; President Barack Obama and former President George W. Bush will speak at the service.

Governor Nixon will be joined by Missouri Director of Public Safety Lane Roberts and Superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Col. Bret Johnson.

In a release sent out Monday, Governor Nixon said the following:

“Missouri stands with the law enforcement officers of Dallas in grieving the loss of these officers who died protecting others.Tragically, we have just seen in Missouri the very real dangers that law enforcement officers subject themselves to on a daily basis. Being at the memorial service is a sign of the enormous respect we have for the sacrifice of the officers in Dallas, and conveys the support of the people of Missouri for law enforcement officers across the country.”
